At noho, we believe our furniture should fit with our values as well as our lifestyles. We set out to create life-enriching furniture in the most planet-kind ways we can—repurposing discarded waste, using sustainable energy and packaging and building our products to last. We’re not perfect, but we're doing our best to help turn the tide toward a healthier planet and future for everyone.
Purpose Beyond Profit
We believe business success and sustainability go hand-in-hand. We've registered our American arm as a Public Benefit Corporation in Colorado. That entrenches in our founding documents the need to be as committed to creating furniture that’s fundamentally better for people and for our planet as we are to our financial well-being. Often referred to as “triple-bottom-line business,” to us this means doing things in a more mindful and considered way, so that everyone—our employees, our customers and our precious planet—can benefit and thrive.
A B-Corp Business
noho is an accredited B Corp (pending)—a certification that is to business what Fair Trade Certification is to coffee. To earn this distinction, companies must meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency—measures we already hold ourselves to every day.
Certifiably Sustainable
We aim to make sure our products meet the highest possible environmental standards. Check out our product details for a current list of our furniture’s eco-centered certifications.
How it Works
Crafted for Keeps
Made in New Zealand
Responsible Raw Materials
Progressive Packaging
Committed to Treading (and Traveling) Lighter
At noho, we believe that by creating furniture that people treasure and want to keep, we can help reduce waste and encourage more sustainable living. It’s why we build and test our products to commercial furniture standards (BIFMA) of quality, durability and longevity so they can stand the test of time. And, it’s why we design our furniture with simple elegance of form and easy-fit accessory options for lasting appeal that keep pace with changing styles and lifestyles.
Manufacturing our products in Aotearoa New Zealand allows our design team to closely manage quality and reduce waste while enabling us to power production with 82% renewable energy. Space-efficient packaging and sea-freighting further reduce our carbon footprint by minimizing CO2 emissions produced when transporting our products to market.
Our commitment to sustainability has led to groundbreaking partnerships with eco-innovators like Aquafil, whose ECONYL® regeneration process turns recovered fishing nets and end-of-use carpets into regenerated nylon that we use to create remarkable, treasured furniture. In time we plan for all our products to be infinitely recyclable.
We take a less-is-more approach to packing and protecting our products, and all our packaging materials are 100% recyclable. Materials are comprised of plain cardboard; tissue paper; compostable, corn-starch bags, and environmental printing inks. With clever packaging solutions and the help of our supply chain partners, we’ve also eliminated plastic shrink-wrap from our freight and logistics chain.
We, together with our supply chain partners, are fervently committed to finding new ways to continue to reduce our carbon footprint, extend our product lifecycles, increase end-of-life product recycling, be meaningful contributors to the circular economy, and help lead the way for businesses to do more good than harm.
And, we very intentionally chose to use a direct-to-consumer business model to further minimise freighting and other energy requirements.
